Contract cheating – How do I identify it in student work?



This session will focus on how some of the forms of contract cheating can be identified in student work. Some of the simple and sophisticated techniques students are using to avoid detection will be discussed, in addition to the patterns and clues that indicate irregularities in submissions.


Dr Ann Rogerson is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Business at University of Wollongong, Australia. Her research focuses on interpersonal communication, and issues related to the detection and prevention of academic integrity issues. She promotes an educative approach to academic integrity through effective and authentic assessment design and open discussion about issues including inappropriate file sharing and contract cheating. From a governance perspective, she designs and implements policies, and investigates allegations of academic integrity for onshore and offshore campuses, and is a subject matter expert on the use of Turnitin winning the Australia/NZ innovators award in 2016, and coming runner up in the worldwide awards the same year.
