Preparing Students to Lead Successful Careers and Ethical Lives

At Bilingual Baccalaureate, a prestigious high school run by La Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, in Mexico, the school excels at producing college-ready students with exceptional writing skills. Sofía Fernández, the coordinator of the program, has always been an advocate for explicitly teaching academic integrity:

“When I started to [learn about] academic plagiarism I was surprised because I thought that individuals who plagiarized were unethical or wanted to take the easy way. It turned out that I was mistaken; most people simply did not know what they were doing [and] it was unintentional plagiarism.”

Because every class has about 50 students, and each teacher has five courses, instructors at Bilingual Baccaularueate require fast but reliable feedback and grading, otherwise, the work would be insurmountable. “With Feedback Studio, teachers can focus on their classroom instead of grading,” says Sofía. Providing meaningful, personalized, and measurable evaluation is one of the main goals to ensure student success:

“Students feel more confident [because] they know that they are not being judged, that they are being supported. The teacher also feels safer because when she gives feedback she knows that her criteria are objective.”
