Bobby Nourani, LMS Administrator at Asia Pacific International College (APIC), has been using Turnitin with a Moodle Learning Management System (LMS) for three years. The simplicity of this integration has been the key to its adoption at an institute teaching 130 subjects to over 1,300 students across its two campuses.
Bobby Nourani says: “It makes the integration of our elements really easy. The main reason is that it helps teachers to decide if an assignment is original or not. It does this very well.” Not only does APIC use Turnitin to identify unoriginal content, they are also using it help educate students about the values of academic integrity. Bobby Nourani explains: “Not all students just copy and paste. Some students may do it unintentionally. That’s the part where it can really help.”
In addition to implementing improvements to assessments, APIC lecturers are also using the feedback elements of Turnitin to good effect – including voice comments. Bobby Nourani says: “The latest version of Feedback Studio is magnificent because it makes it really easy for them to put in feedback. Assessing and communication, I would say, are the most important things that Turnitin has done for us. It makes it clear if a student is doing a good job.”
Bobby was a Turnitin Global Award Honorable Mention in 2017
